CODE OF CONDUCT
The Collective is unique in the way we run and organize our community. We have a professional code of conduct that we require all our members to adhere to. This code gives our community a solid foundation for creative expression, transparency, strong communication, and a thorough understanding of the community's values and principles. If you do not agree with any part of our code, then our community is most likely not for you. We encourage all applicants to please read the code thoroughly before applying.
The Collective
Code of Conduct
We are a community of filmmakers, writers, and actors dedicated to collaboration, learning, and creative expression. To ensure a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for everyone, we uphold the following Code of Conduct for all members and participants in our group:
1. Be Respectful & Inclusive:
-
In this community we follow the golden rule: Treat others as you would want to be treated. Treat everyone with respect, regardless of background, experience, skill level, identity, or opinions.
-
Use welcoming and inclusive language and avoid making discriminatory or offensive jokes, comments, or gestures.
-
This is a community of individuals who have a passion for filmmaking and are looking to grow and improve their skills and storytelling abilities. It is a safe space for learning and accomplishment.
-
Please respect the properties of other members, during meetings, and both on and off productions.
2. Communication & Collaboration:
-
This community’s foundation is built on 4 Pillars: TRUST, COMMUNICATION, MERIT and RESPECT.
-
Trust is essential in this community and must be earned. If you want trust, you have to prove yourself worthy of trust and must also trust others so that others may trust you.
-
Trust is important as we will be exposing our ideas, our scripts, our equipment, our talents, and our resources to each other. Do your best to maintain integrity in all that you say and do.
-
Communicate clearly and respectfully, both online and in person.
-
Listen attentively to others and give value to diverse perspectives and opinions.
-
Be open to constructive feedback and offer it kindly. If you have a criticism to voice, do it CONSTRUCTIVELY, making sure that the receiving party can benefit from your opinion. Everyone is here to learn and grow, and so we must all be patient with each other.
-
You will be exposed to all aspects of the production process. There will be times you will be asked to carry varying roles or do certain jobs in that process. You must be willing to volunteer the time and effort needed so that the overall project can succeed.
-
If you accept a role in a production, you must fulfill that role to its completion. Failure to fulfill the obligations of the role or the jobs assigned to you could result in expulsion from the group. Do accept a job or role if you are not fully committed to completing that job or fulfilling that role. If you feel you cannot do a certain job, please let your superior know immediately.
-
This group is based on merit. Those who prove themselves assets to the group will gain more responsibility and recognition. Everyone wants to have the most important roles, but they have to prove themselves worthy of them.
-
Those who are willing to contribute equipment and gear must have a private conversation with the Founder beforehand to discuss the terms of using your equipment. This is to ensure that any equipment used by the community is cared for according to the standards of the owner.
-
Be willing to collaborate and share your knowledge and expertise with other community members generously.
3. Participation & Conduct:
-
Arrive on time and prepared for meetings, shoots, or workshops.
-
Respect everyone's time and contributions.
-
Refrain from dominating discussions or taking over projects. Respect each member’s roles both on a production and in the community as a whole.
-
Respect the hierarchy of authority within the community and on set. Leave all attitudes, egos, and tantrums at home.
-
Obtain consent before sharing or using someone else's work or equipment.
-
Be responsible for the safety of yourself and others on set, events, or meetings
-
Absolutely no drug use or alcohol consumption during productions and meetings.
4. Dress Code:
-
On Set & Location:
-
Safety First! Closed-toe shoes are a MUST, especially when heavy equipment or action is involved.
-
Respect the Location Dress accordingly if we're filming in places of worship, formal venues, etc.
-
-
Meetings & Workshops:
-
Come as you are: Casual and comfortable is perfectly fine.
-
Respectful Attire: Avoid clothing with offensive language or imagery that may make others feel uncomfortable. Shirts are required at all times and clothes that are revealing are not allowed.
-
5. Harassment & Discrimination:
-
Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to:
-
Unwanted physical contact or advances.
-
Offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, weight, etc.
-
Intimidation, bullying, or stalking.
-
Unwelcome photography or recording.
-
Any form of discrimination or exclusion is unacceptable.
-
6. Disputes, Reporting, & Consequences:
-
If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to Founder or the group’s Human Resources. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.
-
Disputes and arguments among members must be handled in private. If the issue escalates, a higher authority within the community will intervene and mediate. If the matter still cannot be resolved, the issue will be brought to the attention of the community’s President.
-
The community will have a portion of every meeting to address any concerns or problems occurring in the community. An anonymous suggestion and complaint box also will be available. Members should communicate issues when they start so that they don’t grow into major problems for the community.
-
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in consequences, including but not limited to warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from the group. If a serious offense occurs, the proper authorities will be notified.
We are all responsible for creating a positive and inclusive filmmaking community. Let's create inspiring and great content together! If you have any questions or concerns, you can email the Founder at simon@slyfox-studios.com.
